artgeneve 2016
At this year’s art fair artgeneve which will take place at Palexpo, Geneva on 28-31 January 2016, the ALF organises a discussion on the topic Appropriation & disavowal: challenges in contemporary art on Saturday, 30 January 2016 at 1pm.
The discussion will address the artistic phenomenon of appropriation art, i.e. the use of pre-existing art objects by another artist to create a new work of art. Moreover, the speakers will discuss several cases of artists who have disavowed their own works of art. Both topics will be analysed from the viewpoint of artists rights, the art market, and authenticity. The speakers are :
Nicolas Galley, Director of Studies, Executive Master in Art Market Studies, University of Zurich , Ph.D. in art history from the University of Fribourg, and
Anne Laure Bandle, director of the FDA, guest lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science, trainee lawyer at Froriep, PhD in law.
This conference will take place at a booth of the fair. No registration is required.
We look forward to seeing you at this event.
